00 per hour Deadline April 4, 2024 Job Description Summary/objective The cashier is responsible for collecting all monies from students, staff, and stakeholders both in-person and over the phone.
The position also handles all student accounting information to include reconciling student accounts.
Essential functions Collects and processes various types of payments from students, ensuring that the payment is allocated to the correct account in the student accounting information system; processes deposits for campus departments; prepares and verifies cash and check totals for daily bank deposits Researches and responds to student and departmental inquiries, and provides information to aid with problem resolution, audits student financial records and corrects any issues that arise with digital and physical files Organizes and controls inactive and active student files; prepares and sends student account statements and collection letters; prepares student refund documentation and posts to the student accounting information system; process student payment plans and collect those plan payments Verifies and closes other cashier daily sessions; reconciles department and the organization activity to ensure proper accounting for daily activity; reconciles daily transactions between systems; assigns and removes financial holds on student accounts as required Issues student and staff ID cards Competencies Customer Service: Be consistently courteous and helpful in all interactions, work to resolve issues quickly even when it requires extra work, and being positive and friendly even in difficult situations.
Communication Skills: Be an effective communicator, able to convey information clearly and concisely to students, colleagues, and others.
Listen actively and respond appropriately to inquiries, concerns, and feedback.
Be proficient in communicating both orally and in writing.
Professionalism: Demonstrate professionalism in all aspects of work, including preparation, punctuality, attendance and commitment to ongoing development.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and other stakeholders.
Computer Skills: Possess intermediate computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Cash Management: Demonstrate ability to operate financial accounting software, perform basic math, accurately count back change to cash customers, balance cash drawer and all handle transactions accurately and thoroughly.
Supervisory responsibilities None Work environment The cashier typically works in an office environment, but the mission of the school may require work other settings.
A standard workweek is required but this position may also require evening or weekend hours.
Physical demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain stationary, move/position objects, move about their office, building and/or across campus, respond to emergency situations and communicate with staff, parents, and students.
Employee may be required to perform extensive work at a computer display terminal.
Travel required Occasional travel within and outside of the Great Plains Technology Center district may be required for sponsorship of student activities, professional development, and participation in other Great Plains Technology Center activities.
